We had the privilege of welcoming 100 students from West Side Middle School to Poly Electronics as part of Manufacturing Day, in partnership with the Horizon Education Alliance. It was an energizing experience—one filled with curiosity, creativity, and meaningful conversations about the future of manufacturing.
While many people picture manufacturing as a single-track career, our team was excited to show students just how wide the field truly is. From production and purchasing to engineering, sales, and marketing, manufacturing offers an incredible variety of paths for those who enjoy problem-solving, building, and collaborating.
Throughout the morning, students were immersed in the full lifecycle of what we do.
- Quality, sourcing, and design engineering: Students learned how ideas become real products and what it takes to maintain high standards along the way.
- Automation and efficiency: During the plant tour, they saw firsthand how technology and skilled teams work together to bring products to life.
- Hands-on challenges: Students pitched new product ideas to our sales team—focusing on quality, innovation, and pricing—and even built their own circuit boards in our training lab.
Their enthusiasm was contagious, and their questions reminded us all why events like this matter. Experiences like these spark imagination. They help students see that meaningful, innovative, and high-tech careers are available right here in our community.
We’re proud to play a small part in helping the next generation discover what’s possible.
